Where does confidence come from?

So many people struggle with their confidence.

Am I good enough?

Do I even know what I’m talking about?

What if I mess up?

Does this sound familiar?

In so many cases, a lot of confidence issues come down to this -

‘What will people think of me?’

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what people think of you…it only matters what YOU think of you!

Many of us are stuck with limiting beliefs that keep us within our ‘comfort zone’ where we feel safe. Take public speaking for example, many of us feel too scared to speak in public…

Why is this?

Because we worry what people will think and what they will say about us. Whatever limiting beliefs we have will have us looking for the exact experience that reinforces them. So, if you believe that nobody is interested in what you have to say, your unconscious mind will look for the appropriate match for that particular belief. In the same way, if you believe you are good at public speaking and that people enjoy listening to you, the unconscious mind will look for the situation that reinforces those particular sets of beliefs.

It starts with us!

Whatever we believe about ourselves does not mean it is true. Beliefs are not facts and we choose whatever we want to believe about ourselves. It’s as simple as making a choice.

What would it feel like if you enjoyed the experience?

Who would you be talking to?

What would you be doing?

What would you be saying?

Visualising the outcome can help prime your unconscious mind to look for situations and people that support the outcome you want so if you believe you will enjoy the experience, the unconscious mind will give you evidence to that effect.

So within, so without!

The external world is a reflection of the inner world and if your beliefs are aligned with your goals, then you will have a greater chance of achieving your goals.

It’s all about analysing your core beliefs and making sure that those values and beliefs are aligned with our actions.

When we do this, we consciously begin

creating the reality we want. We are aware of how are intentions and beliefs work together and we realise that we are in control of the experience, not the other way around.

Cognitive hypnotherapy works to help clients reframe their limiting beliefs about themselves so they can live the life they want which is a true reflection of their values.
